Gorgeous to look at. Easy to use.
I spent a lot of time checking out journaling apps. I found most of them over-designed and underwhelming. Im dyslexic, but even if I wasnt I still wouldnt like all that visual clutter in my personal journaling experience.
I love this app. Its easy to use. It provides you with the tools to quickly create a beautiful, personalized writing experience.
You can adjust the page color, the font, the character size and color, and even the page brightness. It took me all of 30 seconds to set it up so that it was optimal to look at.
Its also super easy to import photos and move them around and adjust their size.
There is a good font selection, but it would be nice if there were more fonts in bold to choose from. At the moment there are just 2. (That was my request for Georgia Bold.)
The app comes with one journal. For another 2 bucks you can upgrade to multiple journals, which can be adjusted individually if you want them to look different.
The only thing that would make this app better is if there was a way to sync it across iOS devices. I usually journal on my iPad but sometimes I get an idea when only my iPhone is on hand.
My workaround for that is another app by the same developer call Chronicle Notebook. Its a much simpler version of this app that does sync over iCloud. (And, at $1.99, is proving one of the most useful note taking apps Ive ever used!) So, if I dictate an entry onto my iPhone, the next time Im on my iPad I copy and past the entry from Notebook to Journal.
Backing up options include Dropbox. You can also import as text onto Pages.
